The Balance Keepers: The Fires of Calderon By: Lindsay Cummings

 Harry Potter meets Heroes of Olympus meets Steampunk meets AWESOME! If that isn't the best way to describe a book I don’t know what is.

Late last year I got the incredible opportunity to meet the Author, she was super fun and imaginative, and her personality definitely bleeds through in her writing.  To me it feels like the book is targeted towards 10-13 year old boys (But I'm neither and I still enjoyed it) The main character Albert finds himself in a boring summer job sorting through all the mail that never got delivered, He finds everything from halfheartedly written birthday cards to year old fruitcake, But one thing he never expected we one day a small black dog wanders into his sorting room with a letter from his dad. The letter asked Albert to deliver the contents to some hermit out in the middle of the woods. Albert knew this must be important or else his dad wouldn't have asked him to deliver the letter. Albert gets lost and finds out that the small dog that is leading him isn't quite… Normal.  His eyes glow bright blue in the dark! Once Albert finds his way the dog leads him to a huge, fat, short tree and what he finds inside will change his life forever, because of the friends he will gain and the amazing powers he unknowingly acquired!!! (if that doesn't sound cool than I don't don't know what awesome looks like any more) This is definitely a fantasy book, But it also has action and comedy. This is going to be a series, only one book is out at the moment but the next one will be out later this year... I think.

FINAL THOUGHTS:  This book made me happy to read and kept me up late at night wanting to know what happened next. I would give it 4 out of 5 stars. It kept my attention throughout the whole book and had very unique settings and characters. The only thing I would change is the pacing, It was focused very heavily on the middle and kinda lacked at the end… but not by much. I have really high expectations for the 2nd book and am really interested to see how the story continues.

Don't put you phone on an amplifier...

So I was at a school dance. (super cool right) And I had to put my phone somewhere because I didn't want it to fall out while dancing, so I set it on this giant amplifier... I thought everything would be fine, What I didn't know is that amplifiers have GIANT magnets in them! So when I picked up my phone there were blue, green, and black dots, also half the screen was bright green! So I took it to get fixed, and now i have to get a whole new phone, which is pretty cool... other then the fact i loses everything on my phone and now I can't call or text anyone because I cant see my phone screen. Lesson learned! DON'T PUT YOUR PHONE ON AN AMPLIFIER!!!!!

I'm a fangirl

So if you didn't know i'm a HUGE fangirl! I love books, movies, music, and if it has a fandom, 9/10 times i'm in it. So I will be doing the tag #AskAFangirl. Let's do this!!!

1.) First person you ever obsessed over? My family always tells me that when I was little I had a huge crush on Mickey the mouse, I never wanted Minnie stuff I always wanted Micky, I guess that obsession turned into my love for EVERYTHING Disney. But ya, 5 years old and mickey the mouse.

2.) Current obsession? DOWNTON ABBEY!

3.) Favorite band? Okay, honestly hour, I really want to get into music and like the same kind of stuff all my friends like, but it's just not me... If I had it my way I would blast country and Worship music 24/7 (which I do) I guess I have a bit of a weird sense of music... And that's okay because its the music that makes me happy and relax, and isn't that what music is supposed to do?

4.) Favorite Youtuber? Uggggggggg! You can't make choose!!!! But if I had to... Danisnotonfire and Amazingphil

5.) Favorite movie? Like I said... Disney! I also like Lord of the Rings and I'm recently loving My Neighbor Totoro

6.)  Favorite actor/ actress? Actor: Benedict Cumberbatch! Actress: Emma Watson

7.) Ever got made fun for what I like? All the time! People aren't always supportive of the things I love because they aren't 'normal' But news flash I'M NOT NORMAL! NOR DO I WANT TO BE NORMAL!!! I'm content with who I am and I have friends that love me for me, and that's all that matters. <3

8.) Favorite book? I refuse to answer this question! It's like choosing my favorite child!

9.) Favorite TV show? Ummmmmmmm... DOWNTON ABBEY!!!!!! (did you have to ask?)

10) Favorite fangirl moment? I love it when you're in public and you and your friends are obsessing over something and all of a sudden you hear someone freak out because they over heard the your conversation and they start to fangirl with you!
